Nabeeha Taqweem Burn Centre/ Backgrounder

The reason to go through this project is an incident which took place in 1998, when a minor girl of about 5, Nabeeha Taqweem was badly injured after she was burnt 45% while playing with a candle. Her ears were melted almost and both cheeks, both arms, chest, belly and both legs were burnt badly. During her treatment in a private hospital of Lahore and then in Jinnah Hospital, Lahore and finally in United States of America, scores of problems and complications were noticed and all these things made a mind to go through the project of a burn hospital along with the complete plastic surgery facility. Being a senior journalist with a large experience of 30 years with working in all the major newspapers, S.M.Taqweem managed all the expenses of with the support of his employer honorable Mir Shakeel ur Rehman, Editor in Chief, Jang group of news papers, the then Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif, renowned lawyer Aitzaz Ahsan and so many other well wishers.

Finally, Nabeeha was sent to a hospital of Houston, Texas, in United States of America. Nabeeha was even treated  as a protocol patient in Pakistan but what for those so many people who are burnt in Pakistan daily and they have no reach to the proper treatment. This is the point and we have to do for them otherwise these  people normally are compelled to live a life with the scars on their faces and other part of body. In a country with population more than 180 million there is not even a single burn hospital. Most of the burn patients in Pakistan die of infection and who, fortunately are survived, they don’t get proper treatment
